However, when they finally get together, face up to their lives and feelings, the story picks up and moves towards the all-important resolution. For me, the first third of the book is quite slow, with Callie and Kayden largely skirting around each other with little else happening. After the cliffhanger that was The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden, Jessica Sorenson's sequel is a welcome conclusion and certainly needs to be read in the context of the first book. In order to escape their pasts they have to move forward, but to do so they first need to exorcise their ghosts. And for Callie all that matters is Kayden, she just needs to get through to him and to help him heal like he helped her. Kayden Owens risked it all to protect Callie Lawrence, but now he is stuck in his dark place and he doesn't want to bring Callie down with him.
